The Home Block — Independent Contractor Agreement Summary

1. Independent contractor status. You are an independent contractor, not an employee. You are responsible for your own taxes, insurance, tools, and compliance with all applicable laws.

2. Payment. You receive your agreed contractor rate for each completed job, paid every Friday via Stripe Connect. Payment releases only after the job is marked complete with no active disputes.

3. Platform rules. You agree to respond to job requests within 6 hours (7am–6:30pm CT), complete site visits within 2–3 business days, submit quotes within 24 hours of a visit, and never solicit homeowners for off-platform work.

4. No off-platform payments. All transactions must flow through The Home Block. Violation results in immediate termination.

5. Minimum job value. All quotes submitted through the platform must meet the minimum job value of $50. Quotes below this amount cannot be submitted.

6. Quality standards. Minimum 4.0 star rating required. Below 4.0 triggers a 30-day review period.

7. Insurance. $1M/$2M general liability required at all times while active on the platform.

8. Background check. You consent to a background check as part of onboarding.

Background Check Consent

By checking below you authorize The Home Block and its third-party screening partner to obtain a consumer report including criminal history, sex offender registry, and identity verification. Results are used solely for contractor eligibility. You have the right to dispute inaccurate information under the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA). A copy of the report can be requested within 60 days.

How we get paid
The Home Block keeps a flat 15% platform fee on completed jobs — that's it. No lead fees, no monthly subscription, no hidden costs. You set your own quote, the homeowner pays via Stripe, and we deposit your 85% net every Friday.
